Recovering Black History: A Story and a Workshop
Programing from the Partnership of Historic Bostons
Hello, everyone -
I am writing today on behalf of my friends at the Partnership of Historic Bostons. Their spring programming titled “Recovering Black History: A Story and a Workshop” looks incredible. PHB board member Sarah Stewart sent me this note outlining the three-part series:
Gail Golec is giving the results of her indepth research into four generations of the Brooks family, along with descendant Ray Brooks, on March 27 in Remembering the Brooks Family.
On April 17, two superb local historians are giving a workshop into methods, sources and how to marshal the forces of citizen archivists. [Local historical societies take note!]
Finally, on May 15, and coinciding with the opening of an amazing exhibition at Historic Deerfield, Unnamed Figures, American Folk Art Museum curator Emelie Gevalt is speaking in Unseen New England about the presence - or absence - of Black people in early New England art.
This series is virtual. If you are interested in these events, why not register today? The series’ full eventbrite page can be found here.
(Also, the Partnership for Historic Bostons’ fall programming, “Enslavement & Resistance: New England 1620-1760,” was superb. If you missed any of the presentations, you can find PHB’s deep back catalog on their YouTube channel.

Thanks for sharing! I don't think I would have known about it otherwise -- and it sounds amazing.
